Jack Nicklaus 1986 MacGregor Ltd Ed Proof 25th Anniversary Iron & Woods Set #55/150P - Mint Condition
This Limited-Edition production of the “25 th Anniversary” golf clubs was in 1986. Only 2,500
sets were made for distribution in the United States along with a PROOF production of 150
sets exclusively for the MacGregor Sales Team. This collection celebrates 25 years since
Jack won his 2nd U.S. Amateur Championship in 1961. Thus the name “25 Anniversary”.
MacGregor began an equipment partnership with Jack Nicklaus in 1961 just after he turned
professional and after winning the US Amateur in both 1959 and 1961. Jack Nicklaus'
actual used clubs matching in design were originally on display at Muirfield Village Golf
Club, Dublin, Ohio.
This lot #126 is a Limited Edition “PROOF” set of golf clubs used by Jack Nicklaus during
his second U.S. Amateur Championship in 1961 and continued to use them in his early
years on the PGA Tour thru 1967. PROOF set #55/150P is composed of 11 irons; 1-pw and
sw; Mint Condition. Also includes 2 Tourney woods and a putter. Mint Condition The irons
are an exact replica of the SS1 (Silver Scot) 'JACK NICKLAUS' stamped set that he used
from 1961 until 1967. The putter has a different satin finish and admittedly looks worn but
never used, as depicted in accompanying lot photos. The clubs had a retail value of $3,500
in golf shops around the country. The Tourney woods and irons are both extremely limited,
55/150P, as marked on respective iron farrells and sole plates. Please inspect the
