Jay Hebert's 1963 Ryder Cup Contestant Badge/Clip
Elegance and patriotism both come to mind when appreciating this 1963 Ryder Cup clip issued for tournament display to US Ryder Cup Team's Jay Hebert. The red, white and blue enamel trophy relief piece employed the player badge design of the 1960's, with this example carrying Hebert's etched name on the base and '1963' engraved above. While it could be cleaned, the clip remains in very good condition as exhibited in the accompanying lot photos.
In front of Bobby Jones and on his home course, Arnold Palmer in his first Ryder Cup action debuted in style as playing Captain leading his team to the second-largest victory margin in Ryder Cup history. Arnie to this day remains the last playing Captain sixty years later.
