Jeff Rose's 1999 Ryder Cup Wine Set in Presentation Box Gifted by Captain Ben Crenshaw - 'The Shirt' Designer
The 1999 'Battle at Brookline' story has been written. Among the most significant of pieces from the instant classic we have ever handled is this, 'The Shirt' designer Jeff Rose's personal wine set gifted by US Team Captain Ben Crenshaw and his wife Julie. The set features a 750ml bottle of 1995 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with custom gold-tone and colored graphics silk-screened or etched directly onto the glass. The front of the bottle displays the Ryder Cup trophy flanked by the United States and European Union flags, with text reading Presented To: Jeff Rose / RYDER CUP / THE COUNTRY CLUB / September 24-26, 1999 / From: Ben and Julie Crenshaw. The reverse of the bottle retains its original Beringer Vineyards label from the Appellation Collection. The bottle is housed in its original carved wooden presentation box with a sliding lid decorated in a relief-carved grapevine and leaf motif. Included with the bottle is a personalized letter on official Ryder Cup Matches letterhead dated September 30, 1999. The letter is addressed to Mr. Jeff Rose and is signed in black ink by Ben D. Crenshaw, the 1999 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain. The text of the letter thanks Mr. Rose for his dedication to the team's apparel, specifically mentioning shirts and sweaters! The set is accompanied by the original cardboard shipping box from Captain Crenshaw's office in Austin, Texas, with a postmark dated September 30, 1999. Truly a piece of 1999 Ryder Cup history directly from the source.
