Robert Boyd's 1989 R.J.R. Classic of the Carolinas Champion Golf Trophy
This is a professional champion award for the 1989 R.J.R. Classic of the Carolinas, a regional tournament sanctioned by the Carolinas Section of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of America presented to Robert Boyd. The trophy consists of a circular jade glass plate mounted on a custom-carved wooden display stand. The glass disc features a polished edge and frosted etched inscriptions and graphics. The wooden base is constructed with a rectangular plinth and two vertical supports featuring grooves to hold the glass, with a central stabilizing slot in the base.
The glass plate features the following etched markings:
The top arc reads R.J.R. CLASSIC OF THE CAROLINAS.
The central logo features an outer ring inscribed PROFESSIONAL GOLFERS ASSOCIATION of AMERICA.
The inner graphic of the logo contains a rectangular block with the words CAROLINAS SECTION overlaid upon two crossed golf clubs with a golf ball on a tee.
The bottom arc is inscribed 1989 CHAMPION. 13"w x 11" h ( in the wooden stand)
