Trio of 1958 Masters Tournament Thursday Pairing Sheets
This lot consists of three original daily pairing sheets from the 1958 Masters Tournament, held at the Augusta National Golf Club. Each sheet is dated Thursday, April 3, 1958, documenting the first round of the tournament. The 1958 event is historically significant as the first of Arnold Palmer's four Masters victories.
The front side of each sheet is titled Pairings and Starting Time and lists the morning and afternoon tee times alongside player names and assigned caddie numbers. Notable participants listed include Arnold Palmer, paired with Koichi Ono at 1:18 PM, as well as golf legends Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson, Gary Player, and Jack Burke Jr. The top of the sheet features the instruction WEAR YOUR TICKET PLEASE, WHERE IT CAN BE SEEN!
The reverse side features a detailed illustrated map of the Augusta National Golf Club Course. The map includes hole names such as Flowering Peach, Golden Bell, and Azalea, along with a scorecard listing maximum distances totaling 6,980 yards for a par 72. Additional information on the map includes spectator parking areas, locations for concession stands, and a section of etiquette Suggestions for gallery members.
