W. Winton Hand Forged London And Montrose Special A. K. W. Made In Scotland M7 Mashie
A vintage mashie golf club featuring a hand-forged steel head and a hickory shaft. The back of the clubhead displays a maker mark with a cursive signature in an oval reading W. Winton above the text LONDON AND MONTROSE SPECIAL. Additional stampings include MADE IN SCOTLAND and HAND FORGED. The clubhead also bears the characters M and 7 on the upper portion and the initials A V W near the lower edge. The word MASHIE is stamped on the hosel. The hitting face is detailed with horizontal line scoring. The club is fitted with a wooden shaft and a tan leather wrap grip finished with black whipping.
The clubhead shows a heavy dark patina and surface typical wear. The hickory shaft exhibits moderate wear, surface abrasions, and darkening consistent with age and use. The leather grip shows significant wear and minor separation of the wrap at the seams. The black whipping is intact at both ends of the grip.
