Wright & Ditson E M Special Putter
This antique right-handed golf club features a forged metal head and a traditional hickory wood shaft. The top surface of the club head is marked with an oval stamp reading WRIGHT & DITSON, BM, and SPECIAL. The hitting face is characterized by a square-mesh scoring pattern intended to provide increased spin. The back and sole of the head are stamped with 20 OZ. and a separate character D. The club is fitted with a period-correct hickory shaft and a dark leather wrap grip. The grip is secured with black whipping thread near the hosel and features a cap at the butt end. Wright and Ditson, based in Boston, was a major manufacturer and distributor of golf equipment in the early 20th century. The BM Special model is associated with the Braid-Mills designs that were prominent during this period.
The club is in antique, used condition.
