1948 Asoc. Mexicana De Golf Categoria Campeonato Sterling Silver Trophy Bowl
In one of his finest amateur golf seasons , Frank Stranahan had already claimed the highest National amateur titles of Britain and Canada during the summer. He made it three countries in which he was the amateur title holder on October 24 of 1948 when he rammed home a birdie putt on the 29th hole of the 36 hole finals match to close out Chuck Kocsis of Detroit, 9 and 7. For this significant international victory Stranahan received the trophy which is offered in this lot and is etched:
